In Between is the result of a careful scanning of the artistic and architectural zones in recent years by ARHITEXT journal; moreover, it emphasizes the awareness of change and the formulation of certain tendencies in the Romanian contemporary space. This is why In Between has not been devised as a particular event but the first in a series of x-rays and events whose goal is to search for bridges within the Romanian architectural and artistic space; we hope to beckon what went wrong and create new conceptual and creative contexts. The event can be perceived as a cultural investigation or reinvigorating tool of a site. It may as well be understood as a sign of dependence or it may function as a reflection area. In Between has been devised so as to challenge the present facts. The concept defines both the hybridization felt in some cultural areas under scrutiny, and the constant vacillation between cut and paste and redo and copy. In Between appears as a polemical construct that reflects both the perpetual neo-modernist frame of mind rooted in the cultural space and the auctorial intrusions of the select and convert kind. Thus In Between wishes to signal that: we are on the move; we need to set the territories in new contexts we circumscribe; it seems the cultural events take place in an enclave and suffer from it.

The project In Between interrelates three different cultural scenes: architecture, contemporary art and electronic music. The event is designed to take place 24 hours between 8-9 October 2005.

The ARHITEXT Prizes on contemporary architecture are organized once at two years and radiographs the Romanian architectural space. The jury is composed of important figures of Romanian architectural scene, architects and theorists: Bodgan Demetrescu, Vlad Gaivoronschi, Remus Harsan, Constantin hostiuc, Mihai Nazarie, Tovissi Zsolt, Dana Vais, Arpad Zachi. The president of the jury, at this VII edition, is the architect Doru Comsa, who lives and works in Zurich. There are four categories: residential architecture, public architecture, interior design and exterior design.
